We began the year 2015 with 21 days of prayer and seeking God as a church. Out of this time with God He revealed our verse for the year and our word. This word and verse would guide us through one of the most tumultuous years of our history. Our word was “dependence” specifically on God. Our verse was John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. 2015 will go down as a year we depended on God and prepared for growth.
Much of the work at ThatChurch.com in 2015 happened in the areas that are below the surface, at the roots. We realize that a vine can only produce healthy fruit if it has healthy roots. We also discovered that a small storm can topple a very large tree if the roots aren’t anchored in solid soil. That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t an amazing work happening above the ground. With over 10,000 people attending our annual Egg Drop in Sherwood and Cabot we had the chance to demonstrate the love of Christ to our community. At Christmas we gave away over 300 bikes and Thanksgiving we fed over 400 families with a food box. The most wonderful accomplishment in 2015 was that 750 people said yes to Jesus.
God never said it would be easy but He did tell us it is worth it. The foundations are set and what the next years will reveal will be nothing short of incredible.
The best is yet to come,
